Fighting Irish Set to Host Rhea County Golden Eagles
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish return to action this week with a marquee matchup against the Rhea County Golden Eagles. Kickoff is set for Friday night at 7:00 pm at Jim Eberle Field, and the Irish are looking to build on their momentum after a strong start to the season.
Rhea County comes into the game riding high after an impressive victory over Red Bank High School last week. The Golden Eagles showcased a balanced attack, combining physical play up front with explosive scoring capability. They’ll bring plenty of confidence and a tradition of tough football into Friday’s contest.
Coach Brent Hill knows the challenge ahead: “Rhea County is a really good football team. They’re bigger than us across the board, so we have to rely on playing fast, physical, and disciplined football. This game is about focusing on us—executing the little details and continuing to build the type of team we want to be.”
Hill also emphasized growth over the course of the season: “Last week was a good step forward, but we aren’t finished. We’re learning what it takes to represent Notre Dame football the right way, and Friday is another chance to show that progress.”
For the Irish, this matchup is an opportunity to test themselves against a talented, well-coached opponent and to rally behind the support of their community. A loud and packed home crowd could make the difference.
With two proud programs squaring off, fans can expect a hard-fought battle filled with intensity, energy, and determination. The Irish faithful are encouraged to pack the stands and create a playoff-like atmosphere as Notre Dame takes on one of its toughest early-season challenges.
Kickoff: 7:00 pm, Friday at Jim Eberle Field
